Grateful for Small Things

Sitting here listening to my sick kids cough and snuffle I am so grateful that we are all together and I am awake with no more trouble to care for than some measly childhood bug that in a day or so will be gone.

Reading about those who think helping Haiti is a waste of money horrifies me. Donating cash, goods, time, publicity...helping is not a bad thing, people. This isn't something the Haitians deserved or caused (despite Pat Robertson's opinion) & it wasn't something that could be prepared for. This strikes at the heart of who we are as humans -- members of a global family that ultimately are known by what we do for others.

Haiti

Like so many people outside Haiti, I have friends in there. Trapped in the devastation with limited access to outside help...or even just food and water.

Unlike many my friends are alive and unharmed although they have lost many they know.

Website Design

I don't just sit back, nibble on bon-bons, and write flowery prose. I also design websites. And today I have finished a project making me feel almost giddy with joy! It works, meets the customer's requirements, and he likes it. Yay me.

Of course, now that that is out of the way, technically I should get back to the bon-bons.

Blasphemy in Ireland

The new Irish blasphemy law is now operational

I don't know about you, but I find this sort of thing horrifying. As the article points out, laws like this legitimise the religious oppression of those who do not agree with the religious majority.
